Scouting for the Reaper
8 stories that all deliver in their own way with endings leaving you in wonder on how things happen to people. Circumstances that find people in the most bizarre of situations. I found myself immersed within each of the stories realizing that not all of them have happy endings, but then again that is life. My favorites are Ad Valorem, Rods and Cones, The Extinction of Fairy Tales and Hazardous Cargoes.
It’s too short for my liking. It definitely would have been better as a full length novel. That, in all honesty, is my only negative remark. It was suspenseful, but I felt things were happening too quickly. It was too underdeveloped.
The Torment of Rachel Ames
All I can say is wow, mind blown. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Also, very intricately written. When it was all coming together it had me in an emotional state. But, I truly loved and enjoyed every minute of reading this novella.
Hands that form fists
Punch out unwanted reflections
The desire to keep going
Is hatred feeding obsession
But an inner voice screams
Pausing the body for a moment
It’s not worth the pain
If you breathe and don’t take it slowly
Contain the violence
And cage your inner demons
Pray on your knees
And let good fill your spirits
In the unknown
Something beautiful always grows
Look up love
And the best will surely follow
For some of us, our bad days are far more worse than others. This particular poem explains one of my bad days. This is one of many poems that expresses how it is easier for me to externalize physical pain instead of handling the emotional pain. And when I mean “externalizing physical pain”, I mean hurting myself physically. It was just something I could handle easier. But, like it says at the end, “look up love, and the best will surely follow”. When I find a moment to breathe, to collect my thoughts positively, I realize I’m going to be okay.
