My Heart truth told (Poetry Block 9)

It stands protected

Never neglected

I hold it so tight

That I nearly stop breathing

Never do I wear it on my sleeve

For anyone to steal it

Too many times I let it run free

Only for it to fall and break

Recovery is hard when it’s bleeding

That’s when a new part of me awakes

So I lock her up

She’s missing too many pieces

And I can’t trust again

Which is the hardest decision

That’s just a fraction of a glance

On why my heart remains closed

I got to do what’s right for her

Even if at times she feels alone

Poet’s Thoughts:

At one point or another someone can relate, whether you’re a guy or a girl. When you’re with someone you believe in giving your all. Especially if it’s for love. You trust with everything and you love hard. Unfortunately, both, when broken are so hard to fix. And once you do start to finally heal you’re less trusting and less likely to give your heart to love again. You build walls around yourself for protection but there’s nothing wrong with that. Nobody can protect you better than you! The right person will come along. And what I mean by “right” is that the person who comes along will find you worth breaking your walls down for gaining both your trust and your love.

Precious Blood by Tonya Hurley

Precious Blood

Three girls: Lucy, Cecilia and Agnes end up at Perpetual Hospital for different reasons. Their reasons bring them together and are met by Sebastian, the boy who believes he, himself and the girls are saints. In an unfolding turn of events Sebastian makes the ultimate sacrifice  in front of the girls and Dr. Frey. As the girls must pick up the pieces of their life, they also have to come together and figure out what Sebastian meant about their “saint” lives. This is a great beginning to a wonderful trilogy. Reading on how the girls try to understand their newly revealed status while dealing with huge amounts of pressure is barely scratching the surface. There is so much more to come, so much more to face and their faith will surely be tested.

Labels and Words (Poetry Block 8)

Stuck on a name

That nowhere nearly defines me

Bullied by the audience

Words in ways more than one are harming

Living on the edge

With headphones drowning out the noise

Fighting back the tears

That a long time ago had once been joy

I thought I would come out winning

By ignoring the negative

But I was labeled as too damn different

And it hurt more than I should have let it

Weight became the next issue

And the taunts came rolling

My hate was turning

From them to myself real slowly

Wanting to stay silent

And hold in all the pain

I wanted to be like Carrie

And hurt those bullies with my rage

But in an unexpected moment

When I was praying for my strength

I learned about myself

And how truly great of a person I am

Never again will I let labels and words define me

I am and will always be beautiful

And in the eyes of God that is enlightening

Poet’s Thoughts:

Everybody is flawed, but that’s what makes you beautiful and unique. There is nothing wrong with you. NOTHING! People will always find something wrong whether they think you’re too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short, etc. It doesn’t matter what you look like, who you love, race, religion, sex, etc. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! (Inside and Outside). So, start believing it, start telling yourself every single day! Don’t let some negative label tell you who you think you are. Don’t let hurtful words describe your character. You know your value and so does God.

Anna and the Swallow Man by Gavriel Savit

Anna and the Swallow Man

A very sad, but heartfelt story of a young girl who has to experience the cruelties of war alongside a stranger, the Swallow Man. He teaches her how to survive, how she must act, how she must speak, etc. He shows her things to comfort her. Throughout their journey, you can feel the pain, fear and sadness Anna exhibits. But there is also a side of the Swallow Man that can prove to be dangerous and in times like these, who else can Anna trust. He’s really all she has. But there is hope and beauty found even in the cold heart of war.

Blood Magick (Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, Book 3) by Nora Roberts

Blood Magick

Six who are willing to fight bravely with everything they have, mostly with love in their hearts, against Cabhan. In these final moments, Branna has been struggling to find the right potions and words to defeat Cabhan once and for all. So much rides on it being perfect in order for them to finally live their lives in peace. But there is a piece of the puzzle that makes all this more difficult. The love that has both comforted and separated Branna and Fin. It is known that Fin is Cabhan’s son because he wears a mark, a curse that was bestowed upon him from the dark witch when she first encountered Cabhan all those years ago. This curse that has distanced Branna’s heart from truly loving Fin the way she once did. The separation kills Fin to no end even though he tries to bring himself back into Branna’s heart time and time again. It comes out in a dream that Fin is part of a close descendant of the O’Dwyer’s giving him light and dark powers, a powerful advantage against Cabhan. There is so much at stake and they all just want this to be over. As they prepare to battle Cabhan one last time, will Branna be able to finally let herself truly love Fin and let him back into her heart? As a remarkable trilogy comes to a close the romance and magick will live on! This has definitely, by far, been the best paranormal romance adventure of my life. I can’t wait to restart the trilogy over again.
