Girls and Their Monsters

Hello There!  Guess what topic this post will be about?… Yep, that’s right!  My love for the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

This love has stemmed from an early age of being introduced to the movie by my father and his love of monster movies like this one.  But out of all the classic Hollywood monsters, the Creature is by far, my favorite.  There are two sequels that precede it, Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us.  No, I haven’t seen them yet, but they are on my “To Watch” list.

The biggest connection for me, about this movie, is because it’s a movie my father and I watched a lot together.  One of many sci-fi originals that were masterpieces of their time and still continue to shine.  This movie started my love for sci-fi movies, both classic and modern.  I hope to one day write a sci-fi piece inspired by The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Now, to answer the question of what the book is behind my little creature pop is easy, it’s a book about the lady behind the monster.  I came across this book one day when researching about the creature itself.  Mallory O’Meara is the author of this book and she has written about the Lady Creature, Milicent Patrick, the brains and beauty behind the creature masterpiece.  I am currently reading this book (among others) and I hope to find the interesting connection between Milicent and the Creature.  So, with that being said, be on the lookout for the review.

What is your favorite monster? (answer in the comments)

I love reading books as much as I love writing them. I enjoy drinking all sorts of teas and eating dark chocolate. When I need a trip back down to earth, I watch Seinfeld for comedy relief in this serious world. I'm a kid at heart that still enjoys receiving stuffed animals as gifts. I'm a Star Wars fan with the Nightmare Before Christmas as my theme music.
