Hello there! It’s great to see you made it to 2022 – whew!
I just have a few things to mention about 2021 along with some upbeat words for 2022.
REFLECTION OF 2021
First and foremost, I’d like to pray for those who didn’t make it through 2021 be it COVID related or not. For their families and friends who suffered and continue to mourn the loss of a loved one. I, personally, was told news of loved ones who had COVID and those who died from COVID. This year, needless to say, has actually been one of the most challenging so far. With that being said there is still much to be grateful for despite the circumstances. We are still alive and still have purpose.
While I won’t bombard you too much with detailed challenges faced and still facing, I will state that positive reinforcements are here and multiplying. There were a lot of little life lessons learned from hardships faced last year. And if I can say I am happy about that. Being able to deal with certain things/scenarios is very difficult especially when one is getting hit back to back to back. You begin to think this isn’t fair and why me? And if you’re someone that suffers from anxiety and depression, like I do, you start regressing back to a lot of old and buried ways of thinking.
I found myself thinking if I had done this or if I had done that I wouldn’t be in this situation. Then, I had to step back and get out of that mental space quickly! It wasn’t easy though. And it’s okay that it wasn’t because nobody is perfect. My wonderful husband saw me through a lot of my emotional breakdowns and gave me words of encouragement. My mother as well also helped me see a more positive stance on the situation. I started to feel much better. I know not everyone has that support group to snap them back to reality and if you need a sudden snap – I can be your gal! – Lol!
But all kidding aside, it’s okay to feel a certain way about things you’ve faced whether planned or not. There’s always a message or blessing behind everything be it good, bad or indifferent. It’s harder to see at the moment but it’s there. And trust me when I say – YES, YOU WILL BE OKAY! ❤
I’m glad you’re here and if you ever need to vent, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Now…onto the good part! (see below – 😉
INVITATION TO 2022
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! WELCOME TO 2022!!!!
This is going to be a GREAT year!!! Enough said! 😉
I always love coming into a new year because it means new adventures, new journeys, etc. It’s like a clean slate from the previous year. And I know we can all use a clean slate. A break. Something different and new. I come into the new year already knowing how I am going to deal with it and that is the best feeling in the world. I decided I’m going to go in with a more positive outlook on challenges and I’m not going to get anxious about them. If I can solve it, great! If not, I will breathe and find another way. Easier said than done, but I’m determined to make it work and to follow through with my new way of thinking.
I also created simple goals for myself and even though that’s more of a cliche I don’t care! Goals are goals small or big. They help me and that’s all that matters. It doesn’t hurt to set goals for yourself. 🙂 They can be something as small as getting up, going outside and getting fresh air. The goal is getting up period. Walk around. Go to a park and unwind. You get it, right? (Lol)
Some goals I’ve set for myself for 2022 are:
- Publish at least (2) books
- Walk/run/jog at least 1 mile a day or every other day (weather permitting)
- Get back to school & finish my Associates
- Read (100) books (Goodreads Reading Challenge)
Just to name a few! It’s easy to get discouraged with goals so I made them simple and to my liking. Sometimes if it seems overwhelming then that’s when the goal gets lost. But you have to learn to rewire your brain to celebrate the little victories. If I can’t walk the 1 mile and I walk .50 that is still something to celebrate about because I walked regardless. Getting started and feeling good about the little progressions are important. And are worth it. So, please try however small the goal is it doesn’t matter. 🙂
Lastly, don’t forget to reach out if you ever need an ear or a shoulder. Let’s make 2022 our year for revival/renewal. Don’t forget to follow so you can see upcoming posts about book reviews, guest posts and fun facts about me! 😉
